It's April, which means the "Sweet Life in Hershey" is about to give way to full-blown tourist season.
Hershey Entertainment and Resorts even has a site specifically geared to the off-season, a season that isn't as quiet as it used to be. As the locals all know, the months of June, July and August can get a little crowded in Hershey. The Sweet Life in Hershey campaign may bring a few more people into town during the winter and spring, but it also means that wonderful opportunities abound!
The months of April and May are great for local residents who like to take advantage of living in a tourist town without fighting traffic to reach the attractions...and not a bad time for out-of-towners to schedule a long weekend in Hershey!
It's a time to get a sneak peek at Hersheypark -- Springtime in the Park is coming up this weekend! The forsythia row on Hersheypark Drive is beginning to bloom, and should be at its peak beauty in the next two weeks. The bulbs at Hershey Gardens are also just beginning to show color; a visit to the Gardens is always worthwhile in April. The pins are in at the Hershey Country Club and Spring Creek golf courses, too -- and yesterday's sunny warm weather were perfect for hitting the links!
If the weather is gloomy, step into Chocolate World and take the free chocolate-making tour or visit the Hershey Museum (enjoy the Museum's final year before the grand structure on Chocolate Avenue, "The Hershey Story" opens its doors in December). The Antique Auto Museum is open year 'round and much easier to enjoy at this time of year, when the tourist traffic is light. And don't forget the Hershey Theatre -- even if there isn't a show scheduled, the Theatre's Spotlight Tours on Friday morning are phenomenal.
And there you have it -- plenty of good reasons to drop by Chocolatetown in April. Enjoy!
