In honor of Earth Day, we've already done a litter-picking-up project and one creative project using recycleable materials. Since it's primary day in Pennsylvania, we also get to vote to celebrate Earth Day.
But to really celebrate the day, I offer my favorite Earth Day List from the creative minds at the Shoebox Blog:
Non-Traditional Ways of Saving the Earth:
* carpool, or just stop going to work;
* store sunlight in reusable plastic bags;
* recycle old friends;
* have an intervention and force earth to admit it has a problem;
* stop crying for Argentina;
* pogo stick to work.
Now go buy a Shoebox card (printed on recycled paper, including a minimum of 10% post-consumer and 40% pre-consumer fiber) and send it to someone you love.
Nothing reminds me of the Easters of my youth more than the acrid scent of white vinegar in a cup of colored water.
We colored eggs for Easter this morning. Now there's an activity that's more fun after you've had kids. It's also a LOT more unpredictable and a good measure more messy.
Carly has a wonderful eye for design, and she's becoming more experimental in her egg-painting approach. After all, she's an old pro at seven. At the tender age of two, Kai is just beginning his egg-coloring career. He insisted on doing all his eggs in Neon Green (have you seen the cool McCormick Neon colors?), after taste-testing the dye and splashing around in it a bit.
The results were nice and bright, although maybe not quite neon. The bright green color on Kai's hands will last a good long time, too.
We are, of course, celebrating the day the Hershey way -- with Champagne Truffle Kisses and Kissables in Valentine colors.
And by playing with our food. And photographing it.

I'm happy to report that St. Nikolaus visited us last night, and that we heard nothing from his evil henchman, Knecht Ruprecht. He even left Swiss chocolate...but only for the kids, not for the parents. Nuts.
